RUMOR: Kellen Moore 'intrigued' with the opportunity to coach the Vikings
#21
It certainly backfired letting Jerry Gray walk after 2019, to the fucking Packers no less, either!  Confused

My question is does Moore have a position coach that he could bring with him as his OC?somebody that could run his O in his absence or at least would allow him to take breaks from play calling to spend time with his DCs to make adjustments on the fly instead of implementing everything at half time.

Nussmeier their QB coach? He was TE coach before that and you could make the case that he helped Schultz come into this role starting last year. Had some OC experience at Florida and Bama, but it feels like every offensive coach in the NFL has experience from Bama these days.

Mike Holmgren called his own plays. Bill Walsh. Andy Reid. Sean Peyton. Sean McVay. Kyle Shanahan.....just to name a few. I don't mind my head coach calling the offensive plays. It can be successful. The key isn't whether they call plays, don't call plays, come from a defensive or offensive background.

They just need to be good coaches with good staffs that have talented players.

Dallas has consistently been one of the most under achieving teams in the league despite playing in the weakest division in sports.  I have no interest in taking anyone from their organization especially a 33 year old OC who does not have a lot of experience or has proven himself to be a legit OC. I really do not want another Kevin Stefanski and prefer an experienced HC.  My favorite candidate is Quinn.

So you have no interest in taking anyone from the Dallas organization, but your favorite...  Dan Quinn...  Is the Cowboys defensive coordinator...

Under Moore Dallas has been one of the most prolific offenses in his 3 years.  The most TDs scored by any offense this year.  Last season they fell off because Dak was injured, and they had this guy that nobody even knows...his name is purple rush or cooper Kupp or Cooper Rush?  I know Zimmer doesn't know who he is Smile

Yes, Dallas has underachieved as a team, but it hasn't been on offense the part that Moore impacts.  I definitely get the youth and inexperience concern because I have it with him and Leftwich, the Rams guy, 49'ers guy-McDaniel etc.  The only thing that pushes me a little more towards being OK with Moore is if we also bring in the GM.

I also, like what Stefanski has done in his 2 years with the Browns.  They haven't had back-to-back 8-win seasons in 20 years.  He is on the right track - IMO.

I like Quinn but not as much as some of the guys with Offensive experience.  Plus you referenced the Cowboys and he is their DC and that is the area that has underachieved the most the last few years for them - IMO.  He has turned it around with the likes of ROY Parsons and this was his first year in that role but his previous 5 years as HC of the Falcons they weren't a Defensive powerhouse that is for sure.  Of course, we need someone who can coach the whole team but I prefer an offensive mindset/background.

Quinn has been coaching since 2001 and was the HC for Atlanta for 6 years before taking the DC job at Dallas just this year, so when I am referring to the history of the Cowboys, your take really does not apply, but nice try  Smile

Of the 14 teams in the playoffs, 10 appear to have Head Coaches with primarily offensive backgrounds, with 7/7 in the NFC being offensive minded. Nobody is stopping anyone these days, only limiting them...sure would have been nice to limit folks within 2 minutes this year but here we are...
