The kid is 24 years old....they are betting on the come. That he'll improve and grow. Yeah, its a lot of money but is this really surprising in the NFL QB contract game of today? Not to me.
Contracts are never about what you've done; they're about what they expect you to do.
True, but what you've done should be taken into consideration when developing those expectations.
He’s a good and I consider him a franchise QB. I just ranked him at 11th recently as I see him at around that spot right now. There’s a pretty big drop off after him to replaceable/mid tier guys.
Gotta pay big for a bonafide starter now. He’s not as good as Cousins yet, but the potential is definitely there.
Part of this contract stipulates he has to 'study the playbook a minimum of 4 hours a week'. This would leave you to believe that he hasn't been doing that up to this point.

I think it's on his own time, so probably not enforceable, but more just trying to establish the culture.

Yeah, could be. I think its out there for consumption because its rare to see contractually.

Yes, I think that's pretty obvious. It will be interesting to see if they can change his personal work habits. That ain't easy left on your own.
Not sure why teams just don't mandate this sort of thing with coaches, tutors, etc. It's not like there's not hundreds of millions of dollars at stake.
Can't remember who it was, maybe JaMarcus Russell?, who, when the coaches asked if he'd studied his playbook on the empty iPad they gave him, responded that he had.

Yea, that is still the Raiders playbook
Jamar was ahead of his time reading the playbook with a UV pen and it was still invisible!
We won't even bring up his retention of the invisible playbook, that is a whole other story.

lol, so why did they have it in there to begin with? The way that these corporations/teams cave is hilarious.

Disrespectful? Taking a job that millions of people would love to have a shot at, and making millions in the process and then half assing the effort....thats disrespectful, to the game, the team, and the fans. I've only known one other person named Kyler and he was a little bitch too.

LMAO....agreed, just the name Kyler screams 'little bitch'.
