Safety Josh Metellus suffered an apparent right leg injury during punt coverage. Trainers looked at him briefly before he limped off the practice field on his own. Would be a blow to Vikings special teams.

Everson Griffen was at today’s #Vikings practice wearing No. 58 and went through individual drills. Dede Westbrook and Justin Jefferson got plenty of work in team periods, with Jefferson wearing a red jersey usually reserved for QBs. No Anthony Barr or Christian Darrisaw.

Barr is a loss, but I am encouraged by the rangy athletic abilities of both Dye and my guy Chazz Surratt. Surratt looks to me like he can be the future of LB in the NFL. Strong, smart, and athletic to cover WR's, RB's but also get after it in the box. Smart kid too.

He looks like he could develop into a X factor. Good time for the young LB's to get reps early in the season because the season wears on you need depth on every level and with some good game time, they could be great fill ins end of the year.

I think the backup linebackers were probably the most impressive unit I saw in the Colts game. Dye, Surratt and also Blake Lynch. Lynch has been flashing for two years now.
