Be just great if we get shut down and I lose my job because a governor too stupid to tell people to stay home dropped their outbreak on us.
You work in an essential occupation facility, none of those are getting shut down until they go to shit in any state. Just got the word... JBS closing down Tuesday :o Don't start a side gig as a fortuneteller. May the moths flying out of my wallet eat everything in Kristi Noem's closet.

I saw that, sorry to hear it too...
26 workers infected?
I'll bet it's more than that, let alone their peeps @ home.

I'll bet it's more than that, let alone their peeps @ home. Don't know the exact number for the plant, but the latest update is 76 for the county. We're the biggest cluster (f$%k) between Minneapolis and Sioux Falls.
Actually I'm not really surprised. I'd told friends over the past few weeks that once corona got to Worthington JBS would go off like a bomb. Too many people too close together with too much blood and guts around.

in fairness, it wasnt her that caused that plant to get infected. its the nature of the business, lots of people in a small area. if you look at the rest of SD, its not an issue, just the areas where people get packed in on each other like sardines and nothing was going to stop that. I would bet your plant was more likely a local infection than something that came from the SD in the last week.
honestly in all of this any plant manager that was taking on new employees, especially ones that didnt have a local address, should have their heads examined. it would be better to run at a slower production rate due to not having employees than to lose the whole plant.
as far as your outbreak coming from SD though... I see shit loads of Minnesotans over here so that stay at home shit isnt working for Minny like they think. If I am seeing them up here I am sure that there are way more down in the SFalls area.

there is now a black market to route PPE and other necessary supplies out of the country, so the feds are investigating a lot of things, including hording. IIRC this was at the request of the states that were having troubles getting it that needed it the most.
some wealthy people work with other wealthy people to use local hospitals as drop points for shipments that then get redirected out of the country. also private hospitals in wealthy areas hording supplies when they dont have near the threat that hospitals in more urban settings do.
