And the team won 9 games, yes, and they SHOULD have won at least 2 more easily. The team has some talent, its easy for some fans to forget that. Have a decent draft, sign a few guys through free agency that will help and if the team can stay 50% more healthy than last year, the NFCN will be right there for them to battle for.
My point is about positional quality and poor mgmnt the last 3-4 years.
Two are top of mind for me:
1). No RB1 and passing on an historically good RB class in 25.
2). Assuming Hargrave and Allen are kicked to the curb? The starting IDL is some combination of:
Redmond
Rodriguez
Dawkins
Taimini
And someone named Williams
Reminiscent of James Duck White, Randy Holloway, Mullaney era.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Oh needs? Yes, we have a few, but not really any more than any other team. I thought you were talking about starting birdies on our roster that are free agents.

if they had taken RB, you could bitch that they passed on IOL, which was a much greater need than RB. one could argue that with Kellys retirement that IOL is still a greater need than RB.
i dont get the infatuation over the RB situation, its not like we simply dont have a RB, Jones and Mason were just fine, and I am sure we can find someone in FA or the draft to pair nicely with Mason if/when Jones is indeed released. Its the most plug and play position in the game IMO.

Totally agree. The RB angst last year made zero sense to me. And this 'once in a decade' draft class of RBs last year turned out incredibly average, at least after just one year.

On a roster that typically carries 5 RBs (4 RBs and 1 FB), the Vikings currently have two, Mason and Scott, neither of whom is a RB1 in my mind. So at minimum they will be targeting a starter, a fullback and one depth piece. A lot of work to do at that position.

I'm not advocating (today) they should have taken Henderson over Jackson...I sure did at the time though.
But they also passed on good rb's later in that draft and it just feeds the narrative how badly KAM managed this team and how he truly lacked situational awareness.
That RB room is full of echo's in Eagan right now and Mason is not an RB1.

they may skip the FB and fill that role with a TE, and yes they are a little light, but PF was bringing back last years draft and passing on the RB then. I wouldnt be shocked to see Jones back as RB1 this year on a cheaper deal, and another FA back as well as a mid / later round RB. just to little value in drafting one when there are so many other positions of need to look for in the draft.
also until KOC commits to running the ball, any premium used on the RB position is a waste IMO as he just doesnt use the RB enough to justify it.

I could see CB and DT being positions we target and with this being a strong safety draft, we go there with a 1st pick and also a RB with one of our day 2 picks.
I could see a guy like Christian Wilkins, he was drafted by Flores and we went hard after him when he was a free agent, Could be a great place for him to get his career back on track. At CB Diggs seems to be a guy with a lot of talent who could be work taking a chance on. I could see someone like Greg Newsome. I think some like Kader Kohou is someone to keep an eye on, he is a pretty underrated CB who will not cost as much.
Forgot about that guy. If he's healthy and the money works, I'd love to see him next to Redmond.

Well, he sure played like one in San Fran and hence got his contract with Minnesota. Mason averaged 4.8 yards a carry last year. Caught 14 balls. Lost one fumble. He's averaging 5.1 a carry for his career and 13 rushing TDs. And the offensive line was in complete shambles most games. The guy is massively underrated with Viking's fans...but my guess not the Viking's staff.
They will definitely shore up that room. Long time to go until late July.

RB room will always be light, because you just aren't going to sign RBs to 3+ year deals very often.
