If you draft a WR in the first, I kind of see that as Addison is out, and now you are in the same spot in a year or two. You saved a little money, but have another starter sized hole in the roster.
I might be completely out in left field, but I really like a lot of the IDL available. I just don’t think they’re the classic 3 Tech body types, but I think there’s a lot of big bodies that can move, which lines up for us.
For as pass happy as KOC is. To make everything click you need talented catchers.
I’m hopeful Flores gets the 1st rounder though.

In case you missed it, time between picks in the first round went from 10 to 8 minutes. My assumption is it makes for better tv.

Benji Solak seems to agree....and I'm telling you, McDonald is a riser. I'd love him in Minnesota at DT.

If McCoy's knee checks out, that's kind of a no-brainer pick. I'd like McDonald more if you told me we'd be drafting more of a pass rusher on day two to team with him....or if I knew the team was higher on one of the hyphens than meets the eye. They seemed to really like LDR, but he played a little better in rotation than when he was asked to start.

Valid. But McDonald is going to make everyone on that line better because he's immovable. And he's got some incremental upside as a rusher and room to improve his technique. Strong tackle-for-loss guy. He can shed with the best of them. JMO, but he's going to eat in the NFL with some elevated coaching.

Flores has been here for 3 years. That should be long enough to spot trends on what positions he values in the draft. Unfortunately because of the number of prime picks that we've traded away during that period, the sample size is just too small to draw any valid conclusions.
It does appear that he values experienced DBs as additions to the secondary have come thru FA; Byron Murphy, Rogers, Louis Pierre, Stephon Gilmore, Joequan Williams & the trade for Theo Jackson. The highest DB drafted was Mekhi Blackmon in the 3rd round of the 2023 draft. Jay Ward was drafted in the 4th round of that same draft. Kyhree Jackson was drafted in the 4th round of the 2024 draft. He was also 24 years old.
Again small sample size, but I'm not seeing us drafting any DB in the first round next Thursday.

in theory it should cut commercials, less time between picks is less time for non pick related material, assuming the coverage wont want to miss any live picks in round 1.... but then again.....

The Draft is unwatchable for me because of the schmaltzy hype and the commercials all telecast long. Follow on my phone and scroll X instead....

The sample size is small, but there are also a lot of moving parts that blur the picture. We keep hearing that Kwesi wasn't the best at coordinating with the scouting and coaching staff. It's hard to know what players Flores may have wanted but was overruled.
