And included is the collapse of the defense. It seems like this is turning into a house of cards, a smoke and mirrors team that is being exposed. I hate its turning out this way for all of us long timers on this board. I know I'm tired and so are many others....
All I kept hearing from fans and media was: this is a sports car, just need a QB to keep it on the road. Not the case by any stretch. Some fans want to lay into JJM, but he's 1-1. If the 'any QB will do' brigade was right, Wentz would be more successful and so would the team. The problem mostly is all parts of the team BUT the QB. I mean, how many times has JJ and Carson been hit or sacked in 8 weeks?? Looks like the Viking car is a Chrysler K-car with 100,000 miles on it. ![]()

The reality is his playcalling has been predictable, it's takes too long to get the plays into the quarterback, it's an undisciplined unit that can't stop committing penalties, and they've looked generally sloppy on offense all year long no matter who the quarterback has been. It's year 4 and I'm still not sold on KOC. With that said, if he had a competant GM providing him with talent maybe things would be different?

3 and half full seasons into it, and just once, after a game, I'd like to come in here and find a thread saying "KO runs the ball too much".....
maybe someday?

I saw elsewhere that we are 25th in first half scoring but take out the Bengals game and it's defensive tds and we are 32nd.

Current EPA tiers paint an interesting picture, which is somewhat nauseating for the purple who find themselves in the company of Cleveland, Miami, and the Jets among others.
Upper right is good, lower left is bad, diagonal lines roughly divide tiers, red lines are the median. If Dallas had any defense at all they might contend. We still have a slightly better than average defense but our offense has seriously gone in the tank, thanks mainly to rough qb play and oline inconsistency/injuries.

The underutilization of Jefferson has been maddening to behold. There are reasons to believe things can change and this team can come together. I would start with getting 18 more involved.

No QB is going to do much without time to throw....period.
Brian Nemhauser @hawkblogger · 19h Sam Darnold has been sacked 9 times through seven games this season. He was sacked 9 times in his last game for the Vikings.
