Makes perfect sense actually if you think about it. A team like LA with McVay for example. You can work with McVay and Stafford and once he hangs it up, the team is yours in 2027. Knowing his work ethic, that may be right up his ally.

he is on his last year of his current deal, he needs to disprove all the talk about him being injury prone, not a pocket passer, too short, etc etc etc if he wants another big contract. if he sits on the bench for a year, he cant prove shit and IMO he wouldnt get the offers he would see if he were to play in 26 and at a minimum make 15 to 16 starts and not shit the bed performance wise.

The Cardinals defense has sucked. As Darnold found out, not having to carry the team to win makes a big difference for a QB.

Compare the 2027 contract after a year starting in Minnesota to the 2027 contract after a year on the bench in LA. Keep in mind, in 2027, he will no longer have Arizona paying his bills. How much do you pay a QB like that? Not much.

If he's stupid enough to go the backup route, which also means he's unwilling to bet on himself in one the league's best situations, then he's too insecure and stupid to be my QB anyway.

I've never seen anything where I agree with the conclusion and yet completely disagree with the arguments he makes to support his conclusion. Cowherd makes my brain hurt.
