Clear as mud to me...

OL:

This OL (that had so much promise on paper) has been injured, countless configurations of starters and consequently has given-up the 5th most sacks in the league. Not exactly a juggernaut running the football. Some improvement, but not what I had hoped for.

Ok, some of that is most certainly on the QB play and KOC isn't known for his running the ball.

But for me? This is a unit that has not lived up to my hopes for a variety of reasons..

Darrisaw - hope has to be he bounces back to pre-injury form
Jackson - arrow up right?
Kelly - biggest ? mark on the OL imo
Fries - seems to be rounding out and settling in
O'Neil - getting longer in the tooth, not his best season

DL:

The edges are set and I expect that to continue to be the strength of the D along with Cashman/Wilson

After that? The DL is a huge question mark heading into 26
Allen & Hargrave could both be gone - which is a really big set of holes to fill!!

There's a noticeable drop off in the run defense when Cashman's not on the field. The problem is that Cashman is frequently injured & therefore, not on the field. I think that an ILB who can play the run & cover is a priority in this draft. Probably no later than Round 2.

The dead cap hits for waiving both Allen & Hargrave are substantial. Hargrave has the smaller dead cap hit of the two & is most likely to be waived. Allen has value on passing downs & should be restricted to that role.

I think all you need to say about the OL is that it was an injury-plagued season with the amount of time the starters have played together easier measured in snaps than games. I think this same offensive line will be back next year

I like where the DL is at. Hargrave was a disappointment early on, but has been playing really well the last several weeks, and probably a big part of why the Vikings defense ranks top 5 despite playing the NFL's toughest schedule down the stretch. LDR has flashed but needs to be more consistent. TID had a ridiculous 89.4 pass rush grade against the Cowboys. Redmond is playing at a near Pro Bowl level. They're definitely going to give him some cash this offseason.

Jonathan Allen is probably the most disappointing free agent since Madieu Williams. I think he gets restructured or released.

I think the Oline has been pretty acceptable when healthy. I don’t think we’ll see much for changes, except maybe Kelly if he retires, in which case I think maybe we’d just see Brandel starting at Center and drafting a mid-rounder to backup with a chance to grow.

I think it’s a very reasonable take that we could draft an IDL high in the draft, either at a more traditional nose tackle or a penetrator that you hope holds up better in the run than Hargrave/Allen or something like that. That said, I don’t think they were bad enough that you would cut them without a plan to really replace them just to save cap. I think if you bring in a true NT in the 2nd or 3rd, I think that just stiffens up the run defense enough that you no longer are feeling like it’s a huge liability if the Vikings offense is close to it’s normal production levels and putting pressure on other teams to keep up. I think our current roster composition makes a lot more sense if our offense isn’t impotent.

Just my opinion, but they should have reigned in Darrisaw and kept him out until he was 100%.I know that's a tough ask when the offense is struggling and he's saying he's ready to go, but that was a major knee injury on a big man and rushing him back was the wrong decision. They probably should have done more in bringing in a more accomplished player than Skule to man that spot until Darrisaw was ready. I'm just hoping at this point this won't be something that lingers and affects him long term.

Jackson has played well despite his injuries.

I don't care either way if Kelly comes back as he will forever be one hit away from hanging up his cleats. I like Brandel as replacement.

Fries has not played as expected, but better as of late. Another guy coming off major injury and it's taken time for him to round into form.

ONeill has been his usual steady self

Can you believe O'Neil is now playing his 8th year?! A GREAT 2nd round pick

I would be shutting Darrisaw down now along with Mettelus and Greenard.

Spielman pick.

But yeah, Darrisaw shouldn't see another snap this season. Sorry if that's bad for McCarthy and his development, but no way should they be risking the long term health of the franchise left tackle more than they already have
