Weather Today
#1
Hey minny and Iowa longshippers,  keep a watchful eye on the weather today.  I am out in western SD and this storm front coming is no joke.   Weve had winds near 100mph,  thank fully no measurable precipitation,   but that is supposed to change as this thing heads east,  travel with good visibility is difficult with wind like this,  will be impossible in snow or even moderate rain.   Dont get stranded or worse.

Now I am going to try and get ready by the light of my phone as this whole black bills region has been without power since about 1 am..... praying  I have hot water for my shower.

Update: plenty of hot water!

I'd take 110 degree heat and 4 feet of snow over high winds. Something about the wind just pisses me off. It's useless and always seems to hit the day after trash day, turning my empty bins into little sail boats on roller skates.

I now live in New Mexico in the four corners' area...about a 40-minute drive to Colorado. Weather report for December is going to be in the low 50s and sunny. But January and February are supposed to be horrible.
Glad I'm retired so I don't have to go outside if I don't want too.

GL Jimmy and stay safe...

The local media has been warning us about this for a few days now. Will be rough in outlying areas here in MN, 30-40 mph in the cities/burbs

we had wind speeds over 90mph here in northwest  kalispell in flathead county  31000 with out power  which is about a third of the residents here  90 miles northwest of here has been dealing with flooding and was also just hit with those winds   but it has been a balmy 50 degrees the last 2 weeks or so

I forgot to mention the worst part, as I was leaving Rapid City yesterday I noticed a plume of smoke south west of town, as I drove it just exploded in size over the course of about 10 minutes it was huge. Hats off to those wildland fire fighters that worked all night in freezing temps, mixed precipitation, and winds ranging from 50 to over 100 MPH fighting that forest fire. I saw state and federal resources head to the scene a throughout the evening on semis, coming in from other areas in the hills. that had to be god damn scary last night with natural wind like that tipping trees over and breaking them off above you. great big huge balls on those fire fighters.

also saw that this system produced a recorded gust over 140 in wyoming yesterday... that is crazy shit, like where did my Fn house go shit. I saw a cartoon this morning warning the people of SD that Wyoming would be blowing through today, based on the amount of randon shit I saw laying in the road sides today.... they might be right.
