I’m going to guess that KO is going to give JJ a wee bit more time than just next year. Call it a hunch.

JJ is going to be given time for sure....how long that is is up to KOC. The bummer part is JJ has been hurt and he's just not getting reps to show either way and, as it does, time just keeps going forward. And as that happens, nothing is gained or realized when it comes to JJ's aptitude. Just fan frustration.

McCarthy is highly frustrated as well, I'm sure. Nothing he wants more than to prove his worth.

But let's take your conjecture post to its idea's end, JJM's failure. IMO KOC would not only sign a failed former high pick to KOC University, he would also draft another QB...I think optimally KOC likes competition to push QBs and that's what they half heartedly attempted to do this year with Danny Dimes. We are all a little high on the Max Brosmer fumes, but we haven't seen him in any kind of real situations, so QB2 is PROBABLY his ceiling.

If they bring in competition next year it will likely be for Brosmer at QB2. Vikings might decide that two 24-or-under QBs might benefit from a veteran arm in camp.

They won’t bring in anything for JJ though. It's just too early. 1st round QBs get more time than that. Even busts like Zach Wilson, Justin Fields and Mac Jones got three years before their teams moved on. And when you consider the circumstances—injured his 1st season, then his 2nd, decimated OL in his two starts, his age—JJ will get more rope than most.

Saw an interesting stat yesterday, 6 out of the last 8 QBs drafted 1st overall, had their head Coaches fired during their rookie seasons! Poor decisions abound…
