  PA on Dallas Turner
Posted by: MaroonBells - 08-13-2025, 05:09 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (15)

If you're seeing this on Purple Persuasions Twitter, you're seeing this quote from PA on KFAN. Before this get out of hand, here's the quote.

What do you do with Dallas Turner? I'm just going to lay it out like that. What do you do with Dallas Turner? Where do you play him? How much do you play him? Do you care that he was a first round pick? Do you care that Gabriel Murphy is outperforming him in training camp and the Texans game? Do you care that O'Connell came into the Texans game really, really excited to watch the Dallas Turner performance? And I certainly can say the HC of the Minnesota Vikings thought it was a bad performance. I wouldn't know. I just know that there wasn't a lot said about the old 15 after the Texans game, and there was a lot said about 59. So that would be, I guess that would be the potential proverbial dark cloud on the horizon.”

The operative part here is "can say." But I listened to the audio and the context makes it very obvious he's saying "can't say."

I know he's been out on IR but have we heard definitively what his injury is and the prognostics for it? Why the radio silence?

The Minnesota @Vikings are the 20th most valuable NFL Franchise according to @Sportico
worth an estimated 6.28 Billion dollars.  An 18% increase over last year.

I remember a few years ago, Minnesota was around the 29th or 30th range, now 20th. Wowzer. Not bad when your multi-billion dollar organization jumps up almost 20% in overall worth.

Payton had 'doubts' Caleb Williams would succeed in the NFL
Posted by: StickierBuns - 08-13-2025, 04:31 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (28)

https://www.si.com/nfl/sean-payton-had-d...ucceed-nfl

"Per Wickersham, Payton "loved" Williams's arm at USC, but "worried a little about his processing speed" and saw "too many easy completions left on the field, open receivers that Williams fails to spot quickly." Payton has a formula that weighs negative plays, which Williams had a higher number on than either Nix or No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels. Additionally, Wickersham detailed that Payton questioned how Williams would handle failure."

I despise this guy (Payton), but he might very well be right in his pre-Draft assessment of Caleb Williams. He also appears spot-on in his assessment of Bo Nix, who seems to be killing it physically and mentally on the field. There's more than one way to skin a cat as a successful QB type in the NFL, but some of those required traits are shared. And it sure doesn't seem like Caleb has those traits....and a big one is handling failure and moving on to the next play. We've seen William's frustrated hissy fits already. Stay tuned in Chicago.

Getting some good vibes from the Brosmer kid. A lot to like about these plays. Check out Huber's perfectly executed zone block in the first clip and a well-managed 1v1 in the next.
