Re-sign Daniel Jones for 1-yr 10 million and have him and JJ McCarthy compete next year.

Darnold can make some spectacular plays against zone coverage, but he is a "need to see it open" QB.  Tight man coverage makes him hold the ball and take unnecessary sacks.  Biggest difference tonight is Stafford was getting the ball out on the face of the rush.  Darnold just holds it and takes sacks.

Get the comp pick and let's roll with our future.

I've seen enough.  Put in Mullins, couldn't be worse than Darnold and most likely better.  JMO.

I was hoping the team would rebound from last week's debacle...   Maybe next year.

And drafting. 

1st the QB sitch:

Darnold must be well protected to be excellent ala Kirk Cousins.  If he’s signed we don’t have the picks or the money to protect him. We can be a consistent playoff team with him but nothing more as we are currently constructed. I no longer favor resigning him. 

It’s JJ time as many on here said all along in my opinion  so we can load up in FA and run it back.  If our Oline held up here at year end as they had all year, I would be all for resigning Sammie, but they have collapsed and you see the results. 

HC:  KOC has a kickass downfield passing offense, the players like him,  but he doesn’t help his QB by committing to run the football nor shape his offense for smaller passing gains.  I offer him an extension, but shorter.  

GM: great in FA, poor in the draft.  Hopefully he can get his college scouting reworked to improve. I offer him a short extension running with KOC for 2 more years. 

Defense/Flores.  Bflo has an exotic scheme and is a fine DC. He likely stays because I don’t see any team hiring him as HC yet. His personnel is pretty good in my opinion. I would look for an elite corner and DT in FA instead of resigning Murphy for big money

What I would do: with JJ’s contract look for elite players in FA at CB, DT, C, and G and get them all. Trade back and draft 2 interior line players to develop. Tell KOC and KAM you have 2 years to get it done.

Geez Risner is ass. We absolutely need to address interior OL this offseason. I know Darnold can hold the ball but a lot of that is KOCs play calling. If you want to win you need to block. That starts upfront with at least one qualified guard.

Which HC opening do you think is the most attractive?

Curious as to thoughts on the curious defensive holding infraction -- 5 yards and an automatic first down.  It's curious to me for a number of reasons.  Offensive holding is 10 yards and no first down -- why the difference?  An offensive hold can be just as impactful as a defensive hold -- a defensive hold may prevent a Justin Jefferson escaping a double move for a big gain; an offensive tackle pulling down a Jonathan Greenard may prevent a sack; a fumble; or hit leading to a game-changing INT.  In other words, a well-timed hold may be worth way more than the infracton -- and half the time the player will likely get away with no flag.  So, again, why the difference in the penalty?

At 5 yards and an automatic first down, the penalty seems both over and under penal.  It's fourth and 20 and a little tug on a receiver running a 5-yard route nets an automatic first down -- doesn't seem appropriate.  By the same token, giving a bear hug to a receiver because you are burned on a double more should merit more than 5 yards, and, in certain circumstances, the automatic first down element is essentially meaningless.

The thought comes to mind because I am seeing more and more teams using defensive holding as a tactic to prevent comebacks.  Detroit was doing it in spades, and I saw other teams doing it as well.  If you grab a receiver and it costs your team 5 yards, it will take the offensive team forever to get down the field in situations where trading 5 yards and some time off the clock is worth a whole lot more than potentially giving up a chunk play.  

All things considered, I like the idea of a 10-yard penalty and no automatic first down for defensive holding.  It straddles the line between too much and too little.

Couldn't agree on length of the contract. Good for McCarthy, he's better off getting away from Jerruh. Bears?
