Dallas Turner Vs Top 5 Pick

Campbell totally oversets and Turner blows by him. Looking forward to him almost as much as JJ.

NFL Network @nflnetwork:

"I expect them to try to build around Justin Fields."
@RapSheet does not expect the Jets to draft a QB with the 7th pick.

What a QB mess in Cleveland

https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2025/04...earch.html

"When the Browns eventually move on, the QB's off-field issues, which included more than 20 women alleging sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions, could make him unemployable for some owners.

The on-field problems compound the issue. In three seasons in Cleveland, he played in 19 games due to suspension and injury. He was scattershot, missed reads, wasn't elusive or calm in the pocket, and showed no signs of the dynamic ability he displayed in Houston.

Assuming he isn't able to suit up in 2025, since 2020, he'll have missed 66 of a potential 85 games over five seasons. Can anyone overcome so much missed work, particularly at the most difficult position in sports? There is a reason Watson has -- as he said -- so many doubters."

3D scan of Titanic sheds new light on doomed liner’s final moments

A new documentary reveals the incredible results of a project to create 3D underwater scans of the doomed ocean liner RMS Titanic, which sank 113 years ago.

“Titanic: The Digital Resurrection” tells the story of how deep-sea mapping company Magellan created “the most precise model of the Titanic ever created: a full-scale, 1:1 digital twin, accurate down to the rivet,” according to a statement from National Geographic, published Tuesday.

The 90-minute National Geographic documentary allows filmmaker Anthony Geffen “to reconstruct the ship’s final moments—challenging long-held assumptions and revealing new insights into what truly happened on that fateful night in 1912,” according to the statement.

In the film, Titanic analyst Parks Stephenson, metallurgist Jennifer Hooper and master mariner Chris Hearn walk around a full-scale reproduction of the ship, highlighting previously hidden details.

The team also reconstruct hull fragments found scattered around the site, revealing that Titanic didn’t split in two, but “was violently torn apart, ripping through first-class cabins where prominent passengers like J.J. Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim may have sought refuge as the ship went down.”

The scan also helps to exonerate First Officer William Murdoch, who has been accused of abandoning his post. The position of a lifeboat davit, a piece of equipment used to lower the craft, corroborates testimony that Murdoch was, in fact, washed out to sea as the crew prepared to launch it.

“Titanic: The Digital Resurrection” will premiere on National Geographic on April 11, and then be available on streaming services Disney+ and Hulu from April 12.

SI.com: To pay or not pay QB Brock Purdy
Posted by: StickierBuns - 04-09-2025, 05:28 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (25)

https://www.si.com/nfl/paying-san-franci...very-risky

I get the question and I get the debate, but......what choice does San Francisco have? Trade away or not resign a 25 year old QB you drafted that took you to the Superbowl? Almost everything is risky in the NFL, but is it accurate to say 'very' risky? He's a known quantity....he's young. Personally, I'm not a huge Brock Purdy guy, but I think the 49ers like him a lot. Do they love him? Not sure about that....maybe. But regardless, I just don't think they have much choice here and I fully understand the deficiencies.

Interesting story, must have been a really tough deal for Smith. Some of these psychedelics seem to have mental health benefits.

  OT- Nuggets fire Malone
Posted by: supafreak84 - 04-08-2025, 06:25 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (11)

Just a complete joke and just further confirmation as to why the NBA is becoming unwatchable. Mike Malone, who led a moribund Denver franchise to their first NBA Championship a mere two seasons ago and had them in the 4th position this season, was fired by the organization today. Lol. Yeah the money's great, but not sure why anybody would want to become a head coach. Talk about thankless. It's the equivalent of KOC finally winning the Super Bowl in Minnesota and two seasons later we fire him on his way to another winning season.

  Local piece on Mr Viking

At his cabin about three hours north of the Twin Cities, Alan Page carries on a tradition that he and his late wife, Diane Sims Page, started more than a decade ago: tapping maple trees and making gallons of sweet, sticky syrup.

The former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice and Hall of Fame NFL football player continues to make the syrup, often with his grandchildren. They save a few bottles every year to auction off at the Page Education Foundation gala, to raise money for students of color pursuing post-secondary education.

“The syrup that comes from our trees tastes very sweet with just a hint of butterscotch,” he said. “Maple syruping is ... certainly one of my favorite activities.”

We asked Page, 79, more about his outdoors hobby:

Q: How did you get into tapping maple trees for syrup?
A: We knew there were maple trees on the property [near Outing, Minnesota] because when the leaves turn colors they are just spectacular. But for the longest time it never occurred to anyone that we might start syruping. Diane just one day decided that’s what she wanted to do and so we did and we had a ball ... The first year I think we tapped 13 trees, we’ve tapped as many as 80. We’re down to about probably 50 a year now [tapping] the ones that produce the most sap rather than every maple tree in sight.

Q: What have you learned about yourself from maple syruping?
A: There’s something magical about sitting in the North Woods, in the fresh air, watching sap boil. It’s that simple. You get a sense of accomplishment and you get the benefit of being proud.

Q: What was your best day outside?
A: Every time you can get out and enjoy the world around you, whether it’s boiling hot or freezing cold, every day [outside] is a good day. There’s something about being outside on foot. You see the world in a totally different way than you do in a car or on a bicycle.

Q: Worst day?
A: Just because every day that you’re outside is a good one doesn’t mean that some of them aren’t painful. It just means that the good overshadows the bad. Go out and run a marathon and you’re exhausted at the end. You’re sore, you’re tired, you’re beat up. You feel like you’ve had a bad day, but it’s really a good one. The other piece is you go out when it’s 35 degrees below zero. The paths are treacherous, that’s unpleasant, but yet you were able to do it. You did it. That makes it all worthwhile.

Q: What do you think is your favorite place to be outside in Minnesota?
A: Our cabin, that’s one of my favorite places, and the other is the city’s lakes. We’ve got an incredible, incredible jewel here in Minneapolis, with the Chain of Lakes. Each one is has its own personality, and being able to be around them is pretty special.

Q: You’ve been given the chance to go on your dream outdoor adventure: What is it? Who would you want to bring with you?
A: I get out on my dream adventure every single day. Up in the morning and out the door and experiencing the freshness, or at times the staleness or smokiness, of the air. Every day is an adventure. I’ve developed a whole group of friends that I see out every day. They’re all a part of my life, part of what makes every day and every walk meaningful. I have some friends that walk with me regularly. And if there was one person I’d love to do it again with, it would be with Diane because we did it every day for almost 20 years.

“If he gets past Dallas we’re gold”
Posted by: JustInTime - 04-07-2025, 07:02 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (9)

That was my thought for draft night and the month leading up to it. Just get past Jones. He’s got a head case in Irvin, so I didn’t think he’d have the stomach for another problem child. Just get past Dallas and we’re golden.
